The Satires of Juvenal, Persius, Sulpicia, and Lucilius

Note 1834 — BOOK XXVI.

Lewis Evans translation

Van Heusde's interpretation is followed, which seems the most obvious one. Gerlach takes the contrary view, and says, these very words prove that Lucilius could not have been a scriptuarius or decumanus. Lucilius means, "he would not change his present condition and pursuits, even for a very lucrative post in Asia."
