Mme. Maleziomova, whom I met in St. Petersburg, was for many years dame de compagnie, or chaperon, at Rubinstein’s classes at the Conservatoire. She was a devoted friend of the master’s, and few people knew more of his fascinating personality or spoke more eloquently of his teaching.
