Note 30 — Chapter V · THE PROGRESS OF THE INSTITUTION TO THE TIME OF FARADAY. 1804 to 1814.

Reading edition

This lecture was given. In it Mr. Coleridge made a violent personal attack on Mr. Joseph Lancaster, and a year afterwards, at the annual meeting of proprietors, a resolution was carried unanimously that ‘this attack was in direct violation of a known and established rule of the Royal Institution, prohibiting any personal animadversions in the lectures there delivered.’
