This is the date given in Knapp’s ‘Life of Borrow,’ and also as a page heading in his edition of ‘Lavengro,’ p. 289. But in a note to his edition of ‘The Romany Rye,’ p. 385, he says that the fair was ‘on Easter-Monday’ (April 3).
