Reading edition
It has been pointed out that references to a particular edition would be out of place here, but for elementary students one may refer to Ancient Law, its connexion with the early history of society and its relation to modern ideas (London, G. Routledge and Sons). The many references given in the bibliography to various ancient legislations will suffice for our comparisons, but articles in the Encyclopaedia Britannica or the Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics may be consulted for further study.
