In A. P. Akselrod’s book Das Wirtschaftliche Ergebniss des Bolschewismus (“The Administrative Result of Bolshevism”) we find an account of a punitive train which was manned chiefly by Letts and sailors in order to patrol the Vologda-Cherepovetz line, and to halt at one or another station for the usual terrorist purposes.
