The Propaganda for Reform in Proprietary Medicines, Vol. 2 of 2

Note 126 — FOREWORD (continued 7)

Reading edition

Manufacturers are warned by the Department of Agriculture, through the Bureau of Chemistry, that combinations claiming to contain digestive enzymes must be active when sold. If preparations tend to deteriorate in a short time, each lot should be dated and not sold after the period when they become inactive. While every manufacturer must be considered innocent until proved guilty, and ignorant until proved knowing, it is a matter of knowledge that manufacturers have marketed their various digestive mixtures with full appreciation of their worthlessness.—(Jour. A. M. A., Dec. 19, 1914, p. 2234.)
