Note 215 — Chapter III · THE JEWS AND JEWRY IN RABAT.
Reading edition
In the towns of Morocco a primitive mode of trapping is in use, to prevent the entrance of the effluvia from drains and cess-pools. The orifice is small, and a stone is fitted to it, and slipped off and on. It is the closest application in a city of the injunction of Deuteronomy xxiii. 12, 13, which the Moors rigidly follow, when they are in the country.
