Note 18 — Chapter XLIII

Fray Juan Pineda was preacher and confessor in 1598, missionary at Apálit in 1602, of México in 1603, of Hagonoy in 1605, and vicar-prior of Cebú the same year. Later he returned to Manila, where he became reader, and afterward procurator until 1609. He then went to Rome to take part in the general chapter, where he obtained the degree of master of sacred theology. He died probably in 1611. See Pérez’s Catálogo, p. 64.
