Note 41 — Chapter XXXIII · PHILADELPHIA AND GENERAL CONFERENCE OF 1812.

Reading edition

Bishop Asbury notices him at the New York Conference of 1813. He says, “Bishop M’Kendree preached. It appeared as if a ray of divine glory rested upon him. His subject was ‘Great peace have they that love thy law, and nothing shall offend them.’ The appearance, manner, and preaching of Bishop M’Kendree produced a very powerful, effect on Joshua Marsden, a British missionary.” Mr. Marsden returned to Europe after the war, did good service, and died in holy triumph. His end, as described by his affectionate daughter who witnessed it, was very triumphant.
