Note 214.1 — THE PASTON LETTERS Edward IV (continued 5)
Reading edition
[Add. MS. 34,889, f. 223.] The principal lordship in the manor of Thurning belonged to the Radcliff, or Ratcliff, family, afterwards Earls of Sussex; but it seems there was another lordship which belonged to John de Mauteby in the ninth year of Edward II. From this very likely Margaret Paston derived some claims, and John Paston through his wife. See No. 634. The year of this letter, however, cannot be ascertained.
