Note 325 — Chapter LVIII · THE FIGHT BETWEEN EARL PAUL AND OLVIR ROSTA.
Gilbert Goudie translation
Outsittings, a peculiar kind of sorcery resorted to in order to obtain foreknowledge of the future, in which the person sat out at night under the open sky, and by certain magical rites or incantations summoned the dead from their graves to consult them. A curious instance is given in the 40th chapter of the Færeyinga Saga, in which Sigmund Brestisson is brought from the dead, with his head in his hand, to show who was his murderer.
