Note 309 — BOOK XXXII.1 REMEDIES DERIVED FROM AQUATIC ANIMALS.

John Bostock translation

Literally, the “little serpent.” Some think that it is the Ophidium barbatum of Linnæus. Rondelet identifies it, B. xiv. c. 2, with the small fish called donzella by the people of Montpellier. See c. 31, Note 256.
