Note 266 — Chapter VIII · NAHUA FEASTS AND AMUSEMENTS.

Reading edition

Carbajal Espinosa, Hist. Mex., tom. i., p. 647, says that the side walls are lowest, 'de ménos altura los laterales que los dos de los extremos,' but this agrees neither with other statements, nor with the requirements of the play. Sahagun's description of the tlachco gives two walls, forty to fifty feet long, twenty to thirty feet apart, and about nine feet high.
