Note 432 — Chapter XXI · THE MYTHOLOGICAL “COMING OF ARTHUR”
Reading edition
In the mysterious Lancelot, not found in Arthurian story before the Norman adaptations of it, Professor Rhys is inclined to see a British sun-god, or solar hero. A number of interesting comparisons are drawn between him and the Peredur and Owain of the later “Mabinogion” tales, as well as with the Gaelic Cuchulainn. See Studies in the Arthurian Legend.
