Reading edition
Guillaume de Villeneufve, knight, councillor and steward to King Charles VIII., has left an account of his master’s wars in Italy, in which he states that, being left with forty men to guard Trani, thirty-two of his party were suborned by Don Frederic to deliver up the castle. Villeneufve was kept four months in the galleys; after which he was confined for eight months in the Castel Nuovo at Naples, and released on the 7th of August, 1496.
