Appendix II to the second volume of the German edition of this work contains copies of all the documents in the legal controversies which arose out of Beethoven’s charges against Artaria and Co. and Mollo in the matter of the unauthorized publication of the Quintet. They do not add much that is essential to the story as it has been told, though they show that the legal authorities upheld the publishers against the composer.
