The Life and Letters of Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq, Volumes 1 and 2

Note 152 — Book II. LETTERS TO RODOLPH.

Reading edition

We see from this notice of Busbecq’s that Alençon intended making Dunkirk the seat of his Government. It is not referred to by Motley, but Ranke regards it as a most important piece of information. See Civil Wars and Monarchy in France, chap. xx.
