Note 175 — Chapter XLII · EAST COAST OF GREENLAND—DANISH EXPEDITIONS

Reading edition

A Swedish expedition under Professor Nathorst in the Antarctic had reached Scoresby Sound in July 1899, and afterwards explored and mapped the previously unknown and complicated system of fjords forming the inner branches of Davy Sound, proving that they were connected with Franz Josef Fjord. In September 1899 Nathorst left the coast, and his ship the Antarctic was used in the following year for the Carlsbergfondet Expedition.
