I cannot help regretting that Don Minocchi has given the work a title of his own choosing, though I recognise the superiority of his title as title. As the “Meditazione” it was christened by the original translator, as the “Meditazione” first published by Fanfani and Bindi, and as the “Meditazione” it has become a Tuscan classic under the ægis of the Crusca.
