I read with the Sanskrit College MS. Kusumapurákhyanagareśvaraḥ. But Kusumapurákhye nagare svaráṭ, the reading of Professor Brockhaus’s text, would mean “an independent monarch in the city of Páṭaliputra,” and would give almost as good a sense.
