The first delegation received by President Wilson after his inauguration was a group of eight or ten suffragists. It was arranged by Miss Alice Paul, chairman of the Congressional Committee of the National Suffrage Association. They stated their case in a few words and quoted freely from his book, The New Freedom. The President was very courteous but his attitude was one of amused curiosity.
