Note 59 — Chapter VI · Diabolic Possession and Modern Spiritism
Reading edition
The Uita S. Mauri (Mabillon, Acta S.S. O. S.B., I, 274) is ascribed to a companion, the monk Faustus of Monte Cassino. Père Delehaye, in his unfortunate and temerarious work Légendes Hagiographiques (translation. London, 1907), indecorously attacks this and treats S. Maurus with scant respect. A worthy defence was made by Adlhoch, Stud. u. Mittheil., 1903, 3; 1906, 185. According to Peter the Deacon he also wrote a Cantus ad B. Maurum.
