Reading edition

To this best and most economical food for hogs, Homer makes allusion where he introduces the goddess Circe attending to her sty, which she had filled with the transformed companions of Odysseus:

Od. κ. 241, sqq. Cf. ν. 409.

Ælian de Nat. Animal. v. 45, celebrates these Homeric dainties as the food of the hog to which he elsewhere adds the fruit of the ash. viii. 9.
