Note 79 — BOOK II. (continued 2)
William Robson translation
This valley, formed on the north by the mountain in-Eengni, and watered by a river which runs from west to east, and which is perhaps the Bathis of the ancients, having the villages of Taochanlu and Gourmen on the east, and that of Yen-Euglu on the west;(a) this last is but three marine leagues, or nine miles, from Dorylæum. Albert d’Aix calls this valley Dogorganhi, which appears to be the Oriental name, from which the Latin historians have made that of Gorgoni, which paints in some sort the horrors of this fatal day. Ozellis is apparently the name which the Greeks gave it. We owe these particulars to the learned inquiries of Walckenaer.
