The Heroic Age

Note 361 — Chapter XI · EARLY GREEK POETRY AND MINSTRELSY.

Reading edition

Unfortunately there seems to be hardly any material which might enable us to estimate the popularity of heroic names in Greece in early times (cf. pp. 42 ff., 64 ff.). Note however may be taken of the existence of a prince named Hector in Chios, perhaps shortly after the time of Agamemnon of Cyme.
