The Geography of Strabo, Volume 1 (of 3)

Note 54 — Chapter I

W. (William) Falconer translation

Homer says,

——τῇ πλεῖστα φέρει ζείδωρος ἄρουρα Φάρμακα. Odyssey iv. 229.

Which Cowper properly renders:—

“Egypt teems with drugs of various powers.”

Strabo, by omitting the word φάρμακα from his citation, alters to a certain degree the meaning of the sentence.
