Reading edition

Beazley (Dawn, vol. ii, 1901, pp. 112–217) gives an excellent summary of the history of pilgrim travel throughout the Middle Ages, with a résumé of the most important sources. For the bibliography of this subject see especially Röhricht, Bibliotheca, 1890. For English translations of the pilgrims’ accounts of the Holy Land see the publications constituting The Library of the Palestine Pilgrims’ Text Society, 1897 (see the Bibliography under Palestine Pilgrims’ Text Society).
