Note 11 — ARKWRIGHT.
Reading edition
A third person has been mentioned as the inventor both of the jenny and of roller-spinning, Thomas Highs, of Leigh, above-mentioned, whose claims seem entitled to more courteous notice than they have met with in the Edinburgh Review. There is nothing unreasonable in supposing that both Highs and Arkwright may have heard of Wyatt’s method of spinning by rollers, which was practised in two factories, one erected at Birmingham, the other at Nottingham.
