Note 3 — FOREWORD
Reading edition
It is interesting to note that "Ellery Queen" published many detective novels during his father's Inspectorship, but under his real name, which is of course not Queen. These unrevealed stories, however, should not be confused with the stories published under the name of Ellery Queen, of which The French Powder Mystery is the second. These latter are taken practically untouched from actual investigations undertaken by the author and his father; which accounts both for the nom de plume and the secrecy shrouding the identity of the Queens.
