Philippe Crozier, who in 1903 was French minister at Copenhagen, states that to his intimate friends King Edward “even foresaw the hypothesis of a positive alliance” with France (“L’Autriche et l’avant guerre,” Revue de France, April 15, 1921, p. 271).
