Note 693 — Chapter XII
Reading edition
Tattenbach’s version of the threat was as follows: “The French Government would consider it an injury to France’s interests if the French proposals for reform were submitted for consideration to the signatory Powers. No Power possessed the right to intervene in the Moroccan affair, especially in the frontier question. . . . . The French Government would continue to watch sharply the affairs in Morocco, and reserved the right to act according to circumstances.” See Tattenbach to F. O., May 17, 1905, ibid., 380, No. 6663. Cf. with the original threat quoted above. See also Tattenbach to F. O., May 31, 1905, ibid., 399 f., No. 6676.
