Ἐπὶ τὰς σκηνάς.] The tents were burned, iii. 3. 1; and Krüger therefore observes that we must consider τὰς σκηνάς as equivalent to τὸ στρατόπεδον, or the place of encampment. This explanation is better than that of Weiske and Zeune, who think that the shelter of the villages is meant.
