Note 236 — Chapter II · THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE EDUCATION (PROVISION OF MEALS) ACT
Reading edition
Enquiries made by the head teachers showed that in the aggregate 295 children received no mid-day meal or an insufficient meal. Since, presumably, these enquiries were made by the method of questioning the children, no particular value can be attached to the actual figures; the school attendance officers enquired into fifty-four of the cases taken at random and found that all but two showed undoubted poverty in the home.
