The English and Scottish popular ballads, volume 5 (of 5)

Note 61 — 273

Reading edition

See an appendix to this ballad. White’s edition has verbal variations from the earlier, and supplies three lines and a half-line which have been cut off in the Bodleian copy of Danter. Heber had a copy of ‘King Edward 4th and the Tanner,’ printed by Edward Allde (1602-23), whether the “history” or the “ballad” does not appear.
