The following attempt is based upon the data of two American works—L. Spence, The Civilization of Ancient Mexico (Cambridge, 1912); and H. J. Spinden, Maya Art: Its Subject matter and Historical Development (Cambridge, 1913)—which independently of one another attempt to work out the chronology and which reach a certain measure of agreement.
