'to mankind for' written here and erased: 'doth consist' and its corresponding rhyme two lines below, 'persist,' written in a later hand. Originally the former line read 'But God's sweet kindness to mankind for euer,' and to rhyme with this, the corresponding line ended with 'perseuer.' G.
