This roster will be found to materially differ from the “Record of the Services of Illinois Soldiers,” published by the Adjutant General in 1882, which is shamefully inaccurate in many particulars. I fortunately came into possession of the original “rank roll,” so called, made by General Whiteside and Maj. Buckmaster, which has permitted me to be accurate.
