'Siyyidu'sh-Shuhadá'' can be variously translated as the 'Head', the 'Chief', the 'Master' or 'Prince of the Martyrs'. It is applied to Imám Ḥusayn (the grandson of the Prophet Muḥammad) who was the third Imám.
