Note ES — CHAPTER 13 THE DAWN-BREAKERS

Reading edition

The first Jewish Bahá'í was Ḥakím Masíḥ, a doctor (later to become court physician to Muhammad Sháh) who met Ṭáhirih in Baghdád, and was deeply impressed by her eloquence and masterly exposition. Years later, while attending his son, he met Mullá Ṣádiq-i-Muqaddas, a survivor of Shaykh Ṭabarsí, to whom Bahá'u'lláh had given the designation of Ismu'lláhu'l-Aṣdaq (the Name of God, the Most Truthful). This encounter led Ḥakím Masíḥ to embrace the Bahá'í Faith. He was the grandfather of Dr. Luṭfu'lláh Ḥakím. (See Balyuzi, `Abdu'l-Bahá, p. 78n.)
