Reading edition
It has been suggested that the two obelisks shewn butt to butt in the Dêr el-Baari sculpture were not the Karnak pair, but those erected before the Dêr el-Baari temple. Excavation has not confirmed this. The subject is discussed by Breasted in Ancient Records, II, p. 135, note e.
