There are a number of different legends that relate how the ancestors first obtained fire16. In many of these legends there is a reference to Biliku or Puluga. A common statement in the North Andaman is that “Fire was stolen from Biliku by Maia Tiritmo (Sir Kingfisher).” Some of the legends give further details. An Aka-Čari legend is as follows:
