Note 167 — Chapter XIII · Globes and Globe Makers of the Second Half of the Eighteenth Century
Reading edition
John Flamsteed (1646-1719) was the first astronomer royal, author of ‘Atlas Coelestis’ and other works treating of astronomical subjects. The figures of the several constellations appearing in this atlas were drawn by James Thornhill. Artistically they are not equal to those appearing in Hevelius’ Prodromus astronomiae.
