Bertoldo descrive Cencio nè più nè meno che un brigante di qualche romanzo: gladio super collum illius furialiter stricto, torvus, minax, et omnifariam terrificus(!) Thesaurum et firmissima s. Petri castella in beneficia sibi extorquere non cessavit ab eo; sed omnino non potuit. Buona assai è la descrizione delle due furiose sorelle, e sicuramente conforme a verità. P. Bernried, c. 51.
