Nei documenti di quella età ho notato alcuni «grammatici». Leone VIII era appellato prudentissimus grammaticae artis imbutus. Nel Marini (n. XXIV) compare, nell’anno 906, un Johannes grammaticus. Nel Chron. Farf., (p. 462), intorno al 930, si parla di Demetrius grammaticus; e il titolo era così prezioso, che un Imperatore bizantino se lo ascriveva ad onore.
