Egidio Boucher nel 1612 vedeva quelle pitture ad Aquisgrana, e vi lesse questi versi:
A patriæ nido rapuit me tertius Otto.... Claret Aquisgranæ tua qua valeat manus arte.
E nel suo epitafio:
Qua probat arte manus dat Aquis dat cernere planum Picta domus Karoli rara sub axe poli.
