It now seems tolerably certain that the White Pasha whose exploits were re-echoed from Khartoum was Captain von Gèle, of the Congo Free State, who at the beginning of the year had been arrested in his exploration of the Welle, by the hostility of the Yakoma people, near the confluence of the Mbomo, which has its source somewhere in proximity to the sources of nearly all the principal affluents of the Bahr-el-Ghazal.
