It evidently required some little interest to get touched, for Swift writes[544] to Stella: 'I visited the Duchess of Ormond this morning.... I spoke to her to get a lad touched for the Evil.... But the Queen has not been able to touch, and it now grows so warm, I fear she will not at all.'
