Reading edition
The text of the directory was gathered and written in 1856. E.g. “There is at present (1856) in the course of erection”. However, no physical copy bearing a title page with that publication date has been found, and the text is identical to that contained in Slater’s 1859 directory for Gloucester, Herefordshire, Monmouth, Shropshire, etc. The title page has been constructed, not transcribed.—DP.
