Note 242 — Chapter IV · SCOTTISH COLLEGIATE CHURCHES

Reading edition

Of the early church, which stood on the site of the present St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, Dr. Skene has declared that "there is no doubt the church was founded by S. Cuthbert himself," and so there has been Christian worship there for over 1200 years (Rev. Dr. A. Wallace Williamson's paper in Aberdeen Ecclesiological Transactions, ninth year, p. 114).
